SQL Server Trace

Our DBA noticed a SQL Trace was started under my account on the database and asked me about it. Since I didn't manually start one, it appears that SQL Compare 10 might have. Does SQL Compare 10 initiate a trace on the databases before running the compare, and if so, is there a way to turn this off?

Thank you very much for any info on this.

SQL Compare sets a trace flag (I think it's 3604). This is to get information about the database when you first connect to it. I believe it may also set additional trace flags if you need to decrypt encrypted objects.
  • Thank you Brian! So this appears to be necessary part of the compare process. I just prefer to fly under the radar of DBAs. No way to run the compare without setting the trace flag, I gather.

Thank you for the help Brian!
