SQL Hyperbac FILESTREAM compression

Good morning. I'm currently evaluating the SQL Hyperbac 5 application against a database that utilizes FILESTREAM storage for storing documents. Most of the database backup (approximately 99%) is comprised of the documents stored in the FILESTREAM data store. I was hoping for a good backup compression ratio, but only noticed about an 8% compression ratio.

My understanding is that the compression ratio is based upon the ability of the data to be compressed, but using this product in the past, saw a much better compression ratio (50% to 75%) then.

Is there anything that I might be missing?

Thank you for your assistance.

    Hi Sean,

Compression is entirely data composition dependent. This particular data is less compressible than your typical tabular, relational data. You would likely see the same or similar compression yield regardless of which product you used.
