Bug: invalid/deleted instances break Global Overview

I added a new (windows) server that has 3 named SQL instances on it.

I foolishly allowed it to assume that there was a local instance, and it tried to connect resulting in an error. I happily removed the local instance and then added the named instances, however the global overview stayed 'broken' - presumably because I had added a local instance that didn't exist and then deleted it.

I had to wait approx 5 minutes until the Global Overview fixed itself.

It is as if the underlying data still has references to the phantom instance, whereas it does not appear anywhere in 'Manage monitored servers'.

  • Hi Kevin,

I'm sorry to hear that you've found this. This issue has been fixed in the latest build, so shouldn't happen again once 2.2 has been released (date unknown).

If you need to delete another instance added in error, checking the 'delete collected data' checkbox ought to prevent this from happening.

    Thanks for the feedback,
