What is the earliest version of SQL Backup can be used with SQL 2008 R2?

    For basic backups and restores, SQL Backup 3 and upwards can be used. By basic backups/restores, I mean if you don't need any of the new backup/restore options introduced in SQL Server 2005 and newer e.g. CHECKSUM, CONTINUE_AFTER_ERROR, COPY_ONLY etc.

    Just to add to Petey's reply.

    You will also need to account for the Windows Operating System installed. If you have installed SQL 2008 R2 on a Windows 2008 machine, you will need SQL Backup V5.4 or higher.
