I just installed the 6.3.11 patch - what a mistake.

It appears that command-line support is utterly broken by this patch. In fact, the extremely poor aparent quality of this patch casts serious doubt in my mind about everything that Red-Gate makes.

Now to remove this awful patch..

  • Hi Carl,

    Many thanks for your post.

The patched version of SQL Packager is designed to be just that; a patch. It incorporates some fixes that customers are particualrly interested in, however it isn't guaranteed to be as robust as a release as it hasn't by any means undergone the usual rigourous testing that our releases do.

If you feel that the patch version doesn't suit your needs, then by all means go back to using the release version. Until the fixes in this patch have been properly tested they won't go into a release, and until that point no functionality included in the patch is guaranteed.

Many thanks though for raising the point that the command line functionality is broken with the patch; I will have one of the developers take a look at it.
