I need to know what ports does the application talks on? I have sql ports open but the application will not connect on 1433. The sql instance is setup on 1433 since it is a default instance. Gives me connection errors. When I open the firewall wide open it connects fine. Want to know what ports needs to be opened for the application to talk to on. Let me know.

  • Hi dharmesh1 ,

Port 1433 should be all it needs if connecting via TCP.

Can you telnet port 1433 from the machine running the UI whilst your firewall is operational?

  • Weird because I have 1433 open and I could make odbc connection fine, but redgate will not communicate with server. I could telnet on 1433 too. I do not know why redgate will not communicate on 1433? When open the firewall work again. I wonder it needs some other port as well.
  • Port 1434 is the Microsoft SQL Monitor port (UDP). Perhaps opening this one may help.
