This happens in both SQL Compare 8.0.1.9 and SQL Data Compare 8.1.0.360
Steps to reproduce:
- open either Compare app
- open a recent project
- select a new DB on the left dropdown (remote server, SQL auth)
- select a new DB on the right dropdown (local server, Windows auth)
- click Save As.. button. Dialog box will appear all white, then crash:

The remote server being compared to is running Microsoft SQL Server 2005.

Thanks for letting us know about this problem. Unfortuately I was unable to reproduce it, even over a remote desktop session. The module causing the error is a Microsoft module that gets loaded when you open an explorer window that is configured to display thumbnails of pictures in the folder.
