Generated DBCC CheckIdent statements missing Schema
Discussion by findtim · · Home› Discontinued and Previous Versions› SQL Comparison SDK Previous VersionsThe code the engine generates to sync two databases is missing the schema name when a table change occurs with an identity column. Am I missing something in the documentation on how to address this? Or are there any plans to fix this issue? Thank you for your help. This is the code that is generated with the BOLD peices… -
Error Handling
Discussion by jrowles · · Home› Discontinued and Previous Versions› SQL Compare Previous Versions› SQL Compare 11I recently had to rebuild our server that houses our RedGate tools. In the process, we upgraded from SQL Compare 9 to 11. I cannot seem to find the option(s) that we had enabled before for error handling. What are the option(s) to get my script to look like it used to? Thank you in advance. Before: IF EXISTS (SELECT * FROM… -
Re: Syncronize Logins?
I have two servers. Production and development. I restored a DB from Production to development. So, all the users in the database are there, but, the security Logins are not, so I wanted to create a script to create all the security logins on the development server. To accomplish this, I performed a compare between the two… -
Re: SQL Compare bad transaction management
In case my explanation above does not make sense, here is a clarification based on a simplified case of a single SVN checkin. If I attempt to add a Migration Script to this check in, the following code is generated for me (note that I have removed a lot of lines to make my case more clear to the reader). EXEC… -
Re: Stored Procedures with Encryption will not be scripted
Here is the script that was created by the API - notice the line below that says: "/* Script created by SQL Compare version 5.0.0.1622 from Red Gate Software Ltd at 5/14/2006 7:32:30 AM Please back up your database before running this script */ {code snipped} PRINT N'Creating [dbo].[Encrypted_test]' GO SET ANSI_NULLS OFF… -
Re: Partition scheme issue
I can't see any reason to rebuild partitions. As you can see here even if tables appear equal, they are in "objects that exist in both but are different". When I go through Deployment Wizard, I see this warning: And this is an extract of deployment script: PRINT N'Dropping index [FX_FinanceDM_AccountBalances_DW_BatchID]… -
Smart rename on column causes unrelated SP's to be scripted
Maybe I am missing something, but when I smart rename a column it seems to script totally unrelated SP's. It appears that this is happening for any SP that references an FK to the original (parent) table. Example: CREATE TABLE Parent( ID INT IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, Column1 VARCHAR(50), PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED(ID))GOCREATE… -
Change PK cols and Non-CL Index should DROP NCL First?
I could be wrong, but I thought it was more efficient when changing the PK and dropping a non-clustered Index on the same table to drop the non-clustered index first, then drop the PK. In my case, I swapped the PK sequence of the 3rd and 4th columns along with dropping an obsolete index. SC drops the PK then the… -
UDT change scripting
Discussion by Brian Donahue · · Home› Discontinued and Previous Versions› SQL Compare Previous VersionsHi Janko, SQL Compare is supposed to alter UDDTs exactly as you describe. If it's not, there must be something wrong. Either your UDDT is not bound to any columns or SQL Compare didn't pick up the column dependencies properly. Here is an example script produced by SQL Compare to change a User-Defined Type: /* Script… -
Re: Invalid syntax in CREATE TYPE statement
Comment by Brian Donahue · · Home› Discontinued and Previous Versions› SQL Compare Previous VersionsUnfortunately, I cannot reproduce this problem. When I use your script, SQL Compare recreates the type correctly:SET NUMERIC_ROUNDABORT OFFGOSET ANSI_PADDING, ANSI_WARNINGS, CONCAT_NULL_YIELDS_NULL, ARITHABORT, QUOTED_IDENTIFIER, ANSI_NULLS ONGOIF EXISTS (SELECT * FROM tempdb..sysobjects WHERE…
