Can't Activate

My server does not have internet access.
I went through the manual activation through the activation website.
Copy in my server details, copy back in the activation text from the website, says success, but still shows I'm on the trial version.
I've done this several times without issue in the past.
I activate it and it says successful but it still shows I need to activate it.
We have a professional site license.
I tried un-installing and re-installing.

Anyone have any ideas why it won't activate?
Thanks in advance!

  • Issues with licenses not taking are usually permissions related.
The tool requires that the logon account of the SQL Backup agent service has access to the licenses folder as well as the registry.
The Red Gate licenses folder %PROGRAMDATA%\Red Gate\Licenses (for Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Vista and Windows 7) or %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Red Gate\Licenses (for Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP).
The Red Gate licensing registry folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Red Gate\Licensing\SQL Backup or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Red Gate\Licensing\SQL Backup (for 64-bit machines).
Here is a detailed document on the permissions required.

You can try running the ProductActivation.exe directly on the server.
It is located in the directory where the SQL Backup UI is installed.
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Red Gate\SQL Backup 7
When you run the executable make sure you right click and run as administrator.
Check that a .lic file is created in the licenses folder
The Red Gate licenses folder %PROGRAMDATA%\Red Gate\Licenses (for Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Vista and Windows 7) or %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Red Gate\Licenses (for Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP).
