AVG antivirus found trojan horse in SQL Source Control

The following files in SQL SOURCE CONTROL 2 were flagged by AVG AV as having a trojan horse called BackDoor.Bifrose.GF

Is this a known false positive?

  • Yeah, this is a known false positive. AVG pushed out a definitions update some time Friday that started making it flag Red Gate dll's as infected when they aren't. We've checked the problem out, and we can't find any evidence of alteration in any of the flagged files. In addition to that, it's only AVG users that are seeing warnings.

We've contacted AVG about the issue, but we don't know how long it'll take for them to get back to us or fix the issue. In the mean time, if you're happy ignoring the warnings, your Red Gate products ought to work fine. Sorry about the inconvenience!
