Changed by 'Unknown'

Is there a reason why the "Changed By" column on the Commit Changes tab would be "Unknown" for some users but have a value for others who changes objects?

The changed by information is obtained from the default trace as I understand it. This means the users need permission to read that to be able to view the user that changed the object.

Another possibility is if the trace has rolled over to a new file between the object being changed and someone viewing the commit tab - the information about the change will not be present any longer, so unknown is displayed.

If you hover/click on the unknown column, it may give an extra hint as to the problem.

    Hi

An Early Access Release of SQL Source Control v3.1 is now available that includes a solution to the 'Changed by = Unknown' problem.
