I am a big fan of SQL Prompt! The "Find Unused Variables and Parameters" feature is very useful and has allowed us to clean up many wasteful declarations as we work on existing objects. All of our database objects are stored as .sql files and checked into a source control repository. It would be great if we could run "Find Unused Variables and Parameters" against each file and have a report generated showing any unused variables and parameters within those scripts. Thanks!

    Hi,

Thanks for posting to this forum and sharing your suggestion.

I agree that it would be useful to run the feature in this way but sadly due to the way it's currently implemented would not make this is a trivial addition.

Can I ask how you currently source control your .sql scripts? We might look at introducing these types of checks to our Source Control product.

In any case, I have made a note of your request and will look into doing this in the future should we rework this portion of the code base.

Please feel free to email me directly with any more suggestions.

    All the best,
