Global Overview Group counts not correct

The global overview counts do not count correctly. I believe this should be a count of the total number of SQL server instances. It seems to add a +1 for the server as well? I would expect the Global overview count to be 5 in all these screen shots as there are 5 instances.

  • Hi Andrew

I think that this is working as intended. If you hover your mouse over one of the group counts, the tooltip will give a breakdown of what the count includes i.e numbers of servers and instances. We do monitor each server for non-instance related data, so it's a count of monitored entities as opposed to a count of instances.

Do you think that we're over-complicating things here?

I personally don’t find the counts intuitive. To sum both server and instances at the group level just doesn’t seem right to me. I think just counting instance would seem more logical to me. The hover over detail is far more useful but is probably too much detail to fit in the UI nicely.

I will just use the hover over details in future, thanks for the tip.
