Installed Red-Gate onto a Windows 2008 R2 64bit cluster today and the cluster went offline. Have opened a case with MSFT and they are saying that Red-Gate is casuing RPC conflicts.

Is SQL Backup 6.2 supported in a Windows 2008 R2 64 bit clustered environment at this time??

Has anyone else had any issues with SQL Backup in this configuration??

Once I get more information from the MSFT case I will update this thread.

  • Hi Toeho,

We are currently looking into compatibility for Windows 7 and 2008 R2.

I would be grateful if you could forward me any details regarding these RPC conflicts (robin.anderson@red-gate.com) and mention any other interesting details regarding your 2008 R2 x64 cluster. For example, how many SQL instances do you have on your cluster and do you run them active/active?

    Many thanks,

  • At this point we have rebuilt the cluster on Windows 2003 R2 as we had a client deadline to meet and MSFT could not identify what was going on in a short time frame.

After doing some research it appeared that the default gateway was disappearing from the nics thus the cluster would die. MSFT could not determine is this was the casue of the issue of just another symptom of the main cause.
