Progress dialog is ambiguous when comparing live with BU

I often compare a live DB to a redgate backup file, which can be time consuming depending on the file size.
The progress dialog does not differentiate when it is "connecting" to the BU file, it just displays "<servername>.<DBName> connecting to server" which is the exact same message displayed for the live DB.
When doing this against a sizable BU file, the dialog looks like it's locked up and you can't tell which side of the comparison it's working on.
It might help to provide either one of both indicators in the dialog:
1) the type of compare source currently being parsed
2) the compare "SIDE" currently being parsed

I have to agree with you, it's a shame there isn't much (or any) user feedback when registering a backup file.
This has been suggested before, and we already have an open feature request (SC-4523) for it.
I have added you comments to the suggestion.
Hopefully this will be improved in a future release.
