Log restore fails

I have set up log shipping on a database with the destination set to READ ONLY so users can still query the database and run reports againats it. But if someone has a query window open in SQLEM or SQLSMS, the restore job fails with the following errors:

VDI error 1010: Failed to get the configuraton from the server ....

SQL error 3013: RESTORE LOG is terminating abnormally
SQL error 3101: Exclusive access could not be obtained because the database is in use

I'm using v 5.3.0.178 - it was installed this morning !

How can I get the job to work without having to kick everyone off ? They need to be able to query the database but I can't kick them off every 15 minutes.

    you have to kick them off that is all there is to it period. This has been a limitation of log shipping since day one. You could look at replication if you need current data in the copy but don't want to kick everyone out on each log apply.

    think i'll look at database mirroring when we move to 2005 later this year
