Appending to backup log files

A previous DBA indicated that Redgate SQL Backup does not allow for appending backups to a single log file. Thus requiring a new file to be created for each log backup. This forced us to use the ERASEFILES opiton which was VERY very slow when there were a large amount of files in the directory.

Is this still the an issue or has it been corrected in later versions of SQL Backup? We use SQL Backup version 4 to 5.

Thank you.

Version 5.3 improves on the file deletion speed significantly. However, it is still slow whe the deletion is performed on a Vista system with a large number of files, and that is a known issue.
