Registration of remote database fails

Server is SQL Server 2005 and registraton
fails with error:

A transport-level error has occured when receiving results from the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - The specified network name if no longer available.)

fails at about 38% through on scrip[ting indexes.

    I can't immediately think of anything other than an issue with your network which would cause this - have you tried running other long-running queries against the relevant database, with something like Management Studio?
