Cache Management slows down Management Studio startup

Hi

I've been using SQL Prompt for a few months now and have noticed that it can slow down the Management Studio's startup.

When there are several schema's from different servers and databases in the Cache Management, the startup time will increase.

When the cache is cleared, my Management Studio starts in 3 seconds. With around 10 to 15 schema's in the Cache Management, it starts in about 19 seconds.

The servers are located on different servers on different locations. The are not accessible at the same time.

Greetings

  • Hi Erwin

We are working on version 3.5 at the moment which has some changes to the cache management.
In the new version you can disable the auto update to the cache and then manually refresh from a command on the menu - there may be shortcut keys as well but don't hold your breath as we are running out of available ones.
