HI,

We want to move the SQL monitor to a new box with new OS, the SQL database will remain on the existing external SQL server.
We also want to upgrade from 8.x to 9.   What would be the best procedure to cut down on reconfiguration etc?

If you're not even moving the Monitor repository there isn't much to do. Install Monitor on the new server and point it to the existing database which will then be upgraded as part of the install. Couldn't be simpler.

And if we need to move the Database?
Since I found that 9 no longer supports SQL 2008 r2.

The principle is the same, just migrate the database to a supported version of SQL first, then move the database to the new server (if changing server rather than just upgrading SQL), then point the installer at the migrated database.
