SQL Backup Thread Count

We are using Ola Hallengren's DatabaseBackup combined with SQL Backup. When the backup runs it is passing in a @Threads = NULL. I have searched your site to try and ascertain what the default setting is for Threads. I found documentation that states it must be between 2 and 32 if specified. If not specified does it use a single thread or does it have some intelligence built in based on the number of cores.

Hi mpugh,
Thanks for posting on the Redgate forums.
If the Thread option isn't specified then the default option is single threaded.
To find out how many threads you should be using you can follow the article here (https://documentation.red-gate.com/sbu10/troubleshooting/optimizing-backup-speed). You would then need to edit the Ola job to use the correct number of threads going forwards.
