Cannot delete sqb file manually

Hi,

I'm trying to manually delete the *.sqb files from my MS SQL 2017 Server. However, it always shows me a message of

"The action can't be completed because the file is open in SQL Backup Agent. Close the file and try again."

I would appreciate if someone could shed me some lights on the proper way of deleting SQB files? Do I need to stop the "Red Gate SQL Backup Agent" service first before doing it?

Thanks.

  • Thanks for your inquiry with SQL Backup.
Can you try temporarily stopping the SQL Backup Agent Windows Service, manually delete the files, and then restart the SQL Backup Agent Windows Service?
