I am having trouble registering a server. On step 1 of 4, whenever I enter the name of a server (or IP address) and try to add it (this is a remote server that is not on my local LAN and does not show up in the list), it just blanks out the server name without adding the server. The documentation is very sparse and does not do an adequate job of telling me what it expects me to enter: should I enter a NetBIOS name, the IP address, the FQDN. Also, having the name just disappear with no message telling me the problem or how to correct it results in me wanting to dump this product and go find something else that is a little better documented. What should be a five minute process is turning into huge time waster.

There is an unofficial patched version for that bug, which you can download from ftp://ftp.red-gate.com/updates/sqlbackup/vista/SQLBackup.zip.There are a couple of other UI issues when running the GUI on Vista, but you should be able to use the backup and restore wizards just fine.
