1 Cant see any alerts for database mirroring

  There are no built in mirroring alerts - you can find some in the custom metrics here.  I'm not sure of the exact reason behind this but I believe it's related to the release and focus on Availability Groups

  Database Mirroring has been deprecated by Microsoft and replaced with Always On: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/database-engine/deprecated-database-engine-features-in-sql-server-2016, so we have no plans to do any additional work on this feature.
