Unable to Monitor Windows Info After Windows Update / Server Reboot

We have a scheduled weekend once a month to apply security patches to our servers and reboot if needed. The last 2 times we've done this, SQL Monitor (currently 7.1.1.8196) was unable to connect to one of our servers to gather information about the Windows Server itself. SQL Monitor continued to monitor the databases. Trying to reconnect would fail. Looking at the log it returned "The RPC server is unavailable. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800706BA)". If I log into the server hosting the base monitor and the web service (red gate web server) and restart the 2 services, SQL Monitor can successfully connect and monitor the Windows Server information as well as SQL Server itself.

Any thoughts on why this happens and why the services need to be restarted in order to connect?

Thanks,
-Tom

    Hi TUellner,

In this instance, we need to investigate your log files for further information. Looking here https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa394603(v=vs.85).aspx, the error is firewall related although this wouldn't match with the SQL Monitor server services being restarted.

If you can send over your log files to support@red-gate.com and we can investigate why SQL Monitor won't reconnect properly.

The log files can be obtained from configuration>About 'retrieve all log files'
