Not able to take DIFF backups via GUI - Backup Pro 7.7.07

I am not able to take DIFF backups via GUI. The Differential backup type is simple grayed out or not available on the GUI. And of course, I've taken FULL backups.

I am running Backup Pro 7.7.07 on Microsoft SQL Server 2012 (SP3). I am able to take redGate Backup Pro DIFFs via pure TSQL, so I certainly can take DIFFs outside of RedGate's GUI.

I should also add that the red spinning circle which tells you that RedGate is still processing or reading some backup log and info keeps spinning for ever and none of the 5 tabs on the lower part of the GUI become available: activity history, In progress, Log Copy, Jobs, Reminders. Makes me believe the main problem is with redGate's own log??

Has someone experienced this problem before? Any way to fix this?
