Profiler hangs on startup after first use

After the first use of the memory profiler it hangs on startup.

The main window has the message "Starting application"
The title bar has the message "Browsing to http://....

The internet explorer window that the profiler starts loads successfully and I can successfully use my in-browser silverlight app. The profiler however remains on "Starting application"

The application is a silverlight app. If I restart my computer the profiler will work normally for ONE time, then repeat the above behaviour.
