Compare two different tables in the same database

I need to update a table with new and revised data from in an excel worksheet. I imported the sheet into a new table and now want to compare the old and new tables to merge and add new records to the old table. I couldn't find any way to do it using SQL DataCompare. Am I missing something? It would actually be cooler if I had a way of specifying the excel sheet as the left side database.
