Setting 'write' rights in Windows 2000

We're just beginning to install SQL Backup 4.6 in both Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2000 environments. Occasionally, we have been receiving the following error message:

Error saving server settings: Please ensure that the SQL Backup service startup user has 'write' rights to the HKLM\Software\Red Gate\SQL Backup\<Instance name> key.

I have figured out where to set this permission successfully in 2003. Where/how do I set it in 2000?
