How to show standalone instance on cluster node

Hey,

We are using SQL Monitoring 4.2.0.243, we have a three-nodes Widows cluster, on this Windows cluster, we have one SQL Server clustered instance and one standalone instance on the third node.

I added the Windows cluster FQDN and expect to see the standalone instance on the SQL Monitoring page, but it doesn't.

http://documentation.red-gate.com/displ ... to+monitor

on this page, it says "To add all instances on a cluster, including standalone instances installed on the cluster's nodes, enter [cluster-name] or [node-name] (where [node-name] is any node in the cluster). ", it seems what I want is supported.

I also tried to add the node-name, but it only show the standalone instances on this one node, not the whole Windows cluster as well as the clustered SQL Server Instance.

Did I miss something here? Any advice would be really appreciate.

  • Jolin,

Thanks for posting on the Redgate forums.

The link in your post is to the new SQL monitor 5 documentation due out for release shortly.

Here is a link to the SQL Monitor 4 page. http://documentation.red-gate.com/display/SM4/Adding+servers+to+monitor

You should be able to try [clustername][standaloneinstancename] The integration isn't going to be as good as the new V5 though as a lot of work has gone into upgrading this.

Let me know if you still can't get the standalone instance added.
    Kind regards,
