We've got a user that just installed SQL Prompt. She's getting an error connecting to a database on SQL Server 2005. She's a member of db_ddlamdin, db_datareader, db_datawriter and db_securityadmin, but she's getting an error that says SQL Prompt can't read the schema. What's up?

    Hi there,

You don't say whether you're using SQL Server 2000 or 2005, however this article should answer your question:

    Hope that helps.

Oops. Yeah, I left that out. It's on 2000, so it may be time to do some negotiation with some of our users. I'm not exactly jazzed about giving them dbo. I'll send them the suggestion on the beer though because that might grease the skids.
    Thanks for the help.

Yeah, it's not ideal and it's something we want to address for the future: it's very much a limitation of our current meta-data model. If we find any other workaround for SQL Server 2000 I'll post another article along with a link on here.
    Thanks,
    Bart
